Proviso and 19th Ward Democrats Endorse Giannoulias for Secretary of State

CHICAGO, IL — The Proviso Township and the 19th Ward Democratic Organizations each announced their endorsements of Alexi Giannoulias for Illinois Secretary of State today.

Cook County Clerk and Proviso Township Democratic Committeeperson Karen Yarbrough, who had served as the former Vice Chair of the Illinois Democratic Party and had supported former candidate and Alderperson Pat Dowell in the statewide race, made the announcement on behalf of the west suburban organization.

“Proviso is delighted to support Alexi as Secretary of State for Illinois,” she said. “Alexi has demonstrated that he is the candidate best equipped to win in the 2022 primary and in November by building coalitions, ushering in new ideas, and continuing Jesse White’s remarkable career in public service. His 21st Century policy ideas will modernize the office, improve safety on our roads and make public libraries more equitable and relevant in a post-pandemic era. The 2022 election is critical for Democrats, and a strong ticket that includes Alexi will enhance our chances for victory.”

O’Shea, who has served as Alderperson of the southwest side ward since 2011, announced: “The 19th Ward Democrats proudly support Alexi and will work hard to get him elected as the party’s nominee in June and win the general election against a Republican opponent in November. We appreciate his commitment to public service and his vision for improving the customer experience at driver’s license facilities and offering more services and programs that residents can access online without having to wait.”
