SPRINGFIELD — Days after announcing he will step down from his congressional seat, veteran U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush announced Friday he will endorse Alexi Giannoulias for the Democratic nomination for Illinois secretary of state.
Giannoulias also picked up backing from many big-name supporters of Ald. Pat Dowell, a former opponent who dropped out of the secretary of state’s race to run for Rush’s congressional seat.
Dowell, however, has not said who she will endorse.
‘I want to thank the WISN Investigative Team for highlighting this unique case and exposing the problems associated with it,’ the Illinois Secretary of State said in a statement.
